Light freezing rain is possible Wednesday morning in the foothills and western piedmont of NC.
Strong southerly flow is expected to push moisture over an area of shallow cold air, allowing light freezing rain and freezing drizzle to develop Wednesday morning.
Ice accumulations are expected to remain under a tenth of an inch; however, issues are possible along the roads and bridges during the morning hours. It does not take much ice to cause issues on the roads. Temperatures are expected to warm above freezing during the morning hours and change the freezing rain to a plain cold rain.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory (areas shaded in purple) from midnight through noon on Wednesday due to the chance of freezing rain.
