Snow Totals From December 8-9, 2017 Winter Storm

The National Weather Service has released preliminary data showing how much snow fell across the Carolinas on Friday and Saturday.

An abundance of moisture across western NC brought heavier than forecasted snowfall totals. Many mountain communities saw 6-10 inches of snow, with higher amounts across southern facing mountains.

The rain/snow line roughly positioned itself north of I-85, so many areas north of I-85 saw accumulating snow while south of I-85 had a rain/snow mix, which led to little accumulation.
